Description

Electret Microphone Amplifier Module – MAX4466 Adjustable Gain for Arduino

Product Description

The Electret Microphone Amplifier Module with MAX4466 is a high-performance, low-noise microphone breakout board designed for Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, and other microcontroller projects.

This module features the Maxim MAX4466 op-amp, a precision amplifier built specifically for audio applications. With adjustable gain via a trimmer potentiometer (25x to 125x), you can fine-tune sensitivity to suit a wide variety of audio projects.

Unlike cheaper microphone modules, the MAX4466 provides low noise, excellent power supply rejection, and clean audio output, making it perfect for sound sampling, audio analysis, voice recognition, and sound-reactive projects (FFT, music visualization, etc.).

Key Features

• High-Quality Electret Microphone – Soldered directly on the board

• Adjustable Gain Control – From 25x to 125x via on-board trimmer pot

• Wide Frequency Response – 20Hz – 20kHz (human hearing range)

• Low Noise & Distortion – Provides clear audio signal

• Rail-to-Rail Output – Up to 5Vpp depending on supply voltage

• Excellent Power Supply Rejection – Less noise compared to cheap alternatives

• Compact PCB Design – Easy integration into projects

• Compatible with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, and other MCUs

Technical Specifications

• Amplifier IC: MAX4466 low-noise op-amp

• Supply Voltage: 2.4V – 5V DC

• Output Voltage Bias: VCC/2 (for direct ADC input)

• Frequency Response: 20Hz – 20kHz

• Gain Range: Adjustable from 25x – 125x

• Typical Output Level: ~200mVpp at normal speaking volume (6 inches away)

• Output Capable: Up to ~1Vpp (line-level input)

• PCB Color: Purple (may vary)

How to Use

1. Connections:

   • VCC → 2.4V–5VDC (use the quietest supply available, e.g., 3.3V on Arduino)

   • GND → Ground

   • OUT → Connect to microcontroller ADC pin or audio input device

2. Output Signal:

   • Signal is DC-biased at VCC/2.

   • For AC-coupled audio devices, insert a 100µF capacitor between OUT and input.

3. Gain Adjustment:

   • Use the trimmer potentiometer on the back to set desired gain (25x–125x).
